Easy A

Plot;
Olive (Emma Stone) didn't want to go with her friend Rhiannon (Alyson Michalka) and her hippie parents camping so she made up the excuse of having a date. When they returned to school Monday Rhiannon quizzed her about her date, and finally came to the conclusion that she must have slept with her date, and lost her virginity, not wanting to tell her friend that really she just didn't want to go camping and none of that happened, she let her friend believe what she wanted. Marianne (Amanda Bynes)overheard and spread the rumor. Olive was then approached by her friend Brandon (Dan Byrd) who was being made fun of because he was homosexual, so he asked Olive if she would pretend to sleep with him so that people would think he was straight. So at a party they went into another room and pretended to be drunk, and leave every one to speculation. This started a whole line up of people who want to be thought of better, asking to have pretended to do different things with Olive, in return she was given gifts. She was branded with some harsh labels, so she thought she would try and live up to them, at least on the out side. She found out many things she didn't want to know, and was blamed for things she didn't do. Through all this there was one person who never believed her, not even for a minute, it was her first almost-kiss Woodchuck (Penn Badgley) Todd. After so much had happened she couldn't take it any longer, it was time for her to tell the truth, since no one else would. She opened a live web cast, and told her whole story, start to finish.

My Review;
Honestly I wasn't a fan. It had it's funny moments, but not enough to get past all the rest of the boring parts. I liked the parts with Olive and Woodchuck Todd, and how she got people to watch her web cast, but that's about it. It was to much like just another teen movie. I really was just bored, I thought the people who edited the scenes didn't do the best of job. There were so many times when a scene should have been longer or shorter, and that goes allot to how people like it, they needed to do a better job of keeping people's attention. And the song "I gotta a pocket full of sunshine..." really does get stuck in your head, I did enjoy how that singing card scene was put together.

To sum it up, I just didn't like it.

The Other Boleyn Girl

Plot:
As most already know the story I will keep this brief. This is the story of the other Boleyn girl, the sister of Mary Boleyn who married King Henry VIII. This is about a sisters betrayal, as you probably already know. This is the true story of Anne and Mary Boleyn and King Henry VIII.

My Review:
It was alright, as most historical movies there are inconsistencies with what actually happened, but they are basically true. I was fond of the costumes, quality of cinematography, though I wasn't very happy with how the story was written for the film. I thought Natalie Portman and Eric Bana were cast well, though I thought that Scarlet Johansson wasn't the best choice for Mary Boleyn. As I said it was alright, but not great. Certainly not in top movie list.

To sum it up, it was okay.

The Box

Plot;
One morning Arthur (James Marsden) Lewis and his wife Norma (Cameron Diaz) Lewis received a box, with this box came a set of instructions that a man named Arlington (Frank Langella) Steward would come and give them an offer. Mr. Stewart comes and tells them that if they open the box and press the button that they will receive one million dollars, that they could sure use, but if they press the button some one, who they don't know, will die. He gave them 24 hours, and just before he arrived Norma pressed the button. Some one died. After they pressed the button they felt that killing someone was not the bast way to get a million dollars, so they attempted to find out about this Mr.Stewart, but first he found out about them. He told them to stop digging, or else. They didn't stop, a series of interesting events unfolded and it came to this, he took their son, they had a decision to make. Mr.Stewart had made their son def and blind, they had two options, the first that they could keep the million dollars and try and live their life with a def and blind son, or Arthur could kill his wife and their son would return to normal. They talked, and chose the latter. He son was returned to health, and he was taken away by the police, and Mr. Stewart told him that they would be taken care of. And the offer was given to the next person, a person they don't know.

My Review;
I would first like to apologize for what the length of this review will be. You see, I have a very strong opinion about this and let me tell you why, but before I do let me say a few, more technical, things. The filming was beautiful, the timing and the lighting, at moments I wish I could give the cinematographers a high five. Also I think Richard Kelley did a good job as director on the film as a whole. The acting was good, all very convincing characters, but the making or quality of the movie itself isn't where I have the problem. It is the inside of the movie, it is the hidden messages and it's the mistakes that I think were made.
I believe that Mr.Stewart was possessed, I think that when he was struck by lightning an alien entered into his mind and/or body, and that it had to do with the research they were doing in trying to find life on Mars. I think that the box was a test, the aliens were seeing if earth was worth it, if the people of earth were good enough to keep or if the evil had overcome to much and it should be destroyed, I believe what I have said was strongly hinted at in the movie. I also believe that it's not the pressing of the button that makes the last person kill, but rather when some one chooses to kill, the other couple was forced to press the button. The choices were passed on to the next family. I think that no one has been smart enough yet to not kill to help their child, to stop the cycle. One thing that I think is funny is that Arthur and Norma's son isn't even dead, he's just def and blind, has no one heard of Helen Keller, she did amazing things.
I think that if Arthur had not shot Norma that maybe the next couple would never have pressed the button, and maybe their son would have even been returned to health, because the aliens would see that they are worthy, that humans are moral and loving. But I think that because he did chose to go the way of situational ethics and shoot his wife, that he just brought the whole earth one step closer to destruction. I think that maybe even the whole chain could have been reversed, and all those people who made the wrong decisions would be returned to how they were before, maybe they wouldn't remember a thing, or maybe it would be like a dream. But he did kill his wife.
Through out the film I kept hoping it would change and the right thing would happen, but as the end got closer and closer it seemed more and more like the movie that I had waited quite some time to watch, was going to be a movie I hated. I went into the movie excited and left it angry.

To sum it up, it was an awful movie.

Charlie St.Cloud

Plot;
Charlie (Zac Efron) St.Cloud is a sailboat racer, along with his little brother Sam (Charlie Tahan). Charlie got a sailing scholarship to a very prestigious school, but before he left he promised Sam that they would practice baseball every day at the cannon sound, in the Forest near their house. He had bold plans for the future, but everything is stopped when Charlie and his little brother get into an car accident, that killed Sam. Charlie quit sailing, put his boat away and never took it out. He lived near the Forrest along the beach, and worked at the cemetery. It had been a few years and Charlie still went out every night and played baseball with his brother, until he saw a girl he had once sailed against, she was now preparing to sail in a very long competition, her and Charlie fell in love. They had wonderful times together, until Tess (Amanda Crew) Carroll was reported missing, and Charlie found that he had been in love with a ghost, he just didn't know. But somehow, though every one thought Tess had died he knew she wasn't he knew where she was headed, he took off sailing after her, he missed a game with his brother, but it was time, his brother knew that. once Charlie found the ship he jumped in after her, he finally found her body washed up on some rocks, he lied next to her he held her to try and keep her from dying, search crews found them at the edge of their life's, but they were saved. After they got out of the hospital, Charlie and Tess talked, Tess said she had dreamed of Charlie, they did things together and she was scared of him because the dreams were so vivid, like it all really happened. Charlie told her it wasn't a dream he proved it to her. She asked Charlie if he would go with her, if he would sail on her race with her, he said yes.

My Review;
So, I loved this movie. It was filled with beautiful scenery, and wonderful shots. I think Zac Efron really showed a set of skills we haven't seen before. It made my "Ultimate Movie List", it was great. And it was honestly pretty clean, it had a few sexual references, a little bit of language. It had some really intense parts, I wouldn't recommend for people who have trouble with death, near death, and strong emotion. Some of the moments were really unexpected and I loved them. You could call it a 'tear jerker', but it was great.

To sum it up, go watch it.

Grown Ups

Plot;
This is the story of a group of men who were once part of a champion basketball team, they all return to their home town for the funeral of the coach that took them there, their 8Th grade coach Bobby 'Buzzer'(Blake Clark)Ferdinando. After so much time apart with Lenny(Adam Sandler)Feder becoming a publicist, Kurt (Chris Rock) McKenzie a stay-at-home dad, Rob (Rod Schnider) Hilliard married an lady old enough to be his mom, Eric (Kevin James) Lamonsoff recently getting layed off, and last Marcus (David Spade) Higgins who is still a bachelor. First this was just about paying respects, but it became so much more. It became showing all their kids that video games and gadgets are not a childhood, it's about taking risks and getting dirty.

My Review;
It was funny, it certainly had it's awkward moments though. It's what you can expect from most Adam Sandler movies, they wont make your list of most inspirational or best picture, but they will make you laugh out loud and possibly make that list. It was entertaining. I would watch it again maybe with a group of friends, because it's often more fun to laugh with friends. It's rated PG13 so keep that in mind when you're going out to rent it. And in the rating description where it says "Male rear nudity", it happens twice, the first was a (Old) man after going down a really fast water slide, and the second was David Spade, getting up in the morning. Neither were supposed to be attractive, they more make you turn away. Just thought I'd clarify.

To sum it up, it was funny, worth watching.

The Last Song

Plot;
Veronica 'Ronnie' (Miley Cyrus) Miller and her little brother Jonah (Bobby Coleman) go to visit their father Steve (Greg Kinnear), for the summer, who lives on the coast of Georgia. Ronnie soon meets a boy named Will (Liam Hemsworth) Blakelee, they fall in love. But things go bad when they find out not only is Ronnie's dad sick, and will soon pass, but also the church that, it was though, Steve accidentally burnt down wasn't actually his fault, and Will knew who's fault it was. Though the issue of the burn church was figured out, Ronnie was too upset that Will didn't say who it was until so long later, she didn't even want to forgive him. Though he knew she was mad at him, he when to her fathers funeral. Ronnie played a song for her dad at the funeral, she hadn't played the piano, but once, since her parents were divorced. After the funeral she went back to her father's house and was packing up his things when she saw Will waiting on the beach, she walked out to see him. She wasn't expecting this she had assumed he had already gone away to college, she was wrong he loved her so much, he had to see her again. He said he was thinking about transferring to another school he was accepted to in New York, down the road to where she would be going, Julliard, Ronnie was so excited.

My Review;
Okay so in case you hadn't guessed by the commercials this was a typical love story. Two young people fall in love, there's a beach, someone dies, there's a fight. But though it wasn't anything great and new, I liked it, it was entertaining. It was worth the rental cost. It had some emotion I didn't think Miley Cyrus was capable of, I thought her performance was good. Through out most of the movie it kind of seemed that they called it the last song because it was the thing that came to their head, but you figure it out. I thought it was good, it can be somewhat of a tearjerker movie, but not to much.

To sum it up, it was good.

Killers

Plot;
Spencer (Ashton Kutcher) Aimes is an assassin, Spencer Aimes WAS an an assassin. In beautiful Nice France, a recently-broken-up Jen (Katherine Heigl) Kornfeldt met the man she would soon marry, Spencer. It was love at first sight, that day was Spencer's last day on the job. They were married, lived normal life's, but this would only last so long. After three years Spencer's past caught up with him. Every one turned against them, every where, all their friends where trying to kill them. Through a series of wild events, Jen finds out her father MR.(Tom Selleck) Kornfeldt is some secret agent and was the one trying to kill her husband, because he thought that he was trying to kill him and that her husband was an assassin. With a stand off between Spencer and Mr.Kornfeldt, Jen gets fed up, and has a little sit down with her Mom Mrs. (Catherine O'Hara) Kornfeldt, Dad, and Husband about no secrets, and no trying to kill each other.

My review;
It was pretty average action wise, there wasn't a whole lot of blood, it didn't really show many "dead" people but it was implied that they had been killed. It was an okay movie, I'd recommend renting it, there wasn't a whole lot of nudity or language. Being a 4-H kid I did love that Spencer (Kutcher) said that he learned to shoot in 4-H. I didn't think it was anything new or fantastic, but I did enjoy to watch it, it was funny. I will add that it did have a few unexpected twists, that were good.

To sum it up, watch it, it's fun.

The Goonies

Plot;
After finding out that their parents where loosing their house, and a golf course was going to be built on top of their town, Mikey (Sean Astin) Walsh thinks that there has to be something they can do. So while on a venture up to their attic Mikey, all his friends, and his brother Bran (Josh Brolin) Walsh find a map that says it leads to treasure. So it's decided they would all go on a treasure hunt, well almost decided, Bran didn't like that idea. Mikey then thought it best to just tie Bran up so his friends and him could find this treasure and save their whole town. Off set Mikey, Chunk (Jeff Cohen), Mouth (Corey Feldman), Data (Jonathan Ke Quan), and Sloth (John Matuszak) and on the hunt they ran into the Fratelli family who were know robbers. After Bran and two girls Andy (Kerri Green) and Stef (Martha Plimpton) finds them they join in the search because now with the Fratelli's after them, they have no choice but to run. The find their way through the tunnel and through a series of wacky events, finally make it to the treasure, only to find that the Fratelli's had followed them. But eventually, they get the money and save their town.

My Review;
Until yesterday I hadn't watched The Goonies in probably five years. It is such a fun movie, though I didn't remember the kids cussing so much. It is such a creative movie. The whole journey on the way to the treasure was awesome, the person who thought up that part of the movie was great. Also I would definitely want to have a friend like Data, so cool! I liked it, I didn't love it. It was a really good movie, but for me it just didn't get to that greatness. There was no huge moment of suspense, not that every movie should have that, or that movies should stick to the formula, as most sadly do, it's just that it wasn't phenomenal.

To sum it up, It was okay, not a must see.

Sixteen Candles

Plot;
Samantha (Molly Ringwald) is having an awful day, on top of all the craziness of her older sister getting married, her whole family forgot her birthday! Her day continues to be terrible until she is noticed by her crush Jake (Michael Schoeffling) Ryan. After missing each other so many times, they finally meet, and they fall in love.

My Review;
It was honestly not that great, yes I loved some of the things that come from any eighties movie, the filming, the clothing, but this movie doesn't deserve to be in the classic eighties movie category. The plot was silly, it was really choppy, even for a movie of that time. And for parents who are like "oh, I want to give my kids some pop culture from my time", I wouldn't recommend this, particularly because of the language and sexual content. So much in fact, that the PG rating was disputed as to weather it should be R (There was no PG13 at the time). I wish I could say I liked it more, but I can't because I didn't, it wasn't that great.

To sum it up, I wouldn't really recommend it.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off

Plot;
This is the story about the wonderfully adventurous Ferris (Matthew Broderick) Bueller who decides it's to beautiful a day to go to school. So he fakes sick, and along with his not-so-adventurous friend Cameron (Alan Ruck) Frye and his girl friend Sloane (Mia Sara) Peterson they have a great day off school. With a suspicious sister Jeanie (Jennifer Grey), and principal Ed (Jeffrey Jones) Rooney who knows that Ferris is not sick, but trying to prove it, now that's that challenge. It gets around town that Ferris is sick, the story continues to get bigger and bigger, the whole town sends their wished for health. All the while Ferris and his friends have the time of their life. Maybe there is such a thing as the perfect get away.

My Review;
This is one of the movies on my "Ultimate Movie List". This is a movie that could never be remade, there could never be a movie to match it, it is a classic. It's like the Godfather, it tells you how to deal with everything. You put allot of miles on your parents car? "Drive it home backwards". I mean, most every one can relate with Ferris Bueller in some way. It was made in 1986 so 'PG' meant something a little different then it does now. There was not a whole lot of language, nudity, or drug/alcohol references, though if it was reviewed again and re-rated, it would probably be "PG13", just because for the most part it's only little kid movies that are PG anymore. But I would recommend it to most any one. Probably not too little of kids, but it's great. It has the rebellious side of skipping school, but the so very intelligent side of getting away with it.

To sum it up, it IS one of the GREATEST movies of all time.
