Der Untergang (The Downfall)

I'm going to start by giving you some film stats, about the plot, then go into my review. *WARNING - THIS MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS*

Rating: R for "strong violence, disturbing images and some nudity"
Staring: Bruno Ganz and Alexandra Maria Lara.
Released: 16th of September, 2004.
Genre: Biography, Drama, History, War.

Plot:
Adolf (Bruno Ganz) Hitlers last days in his bunker in Berlin. It is told from the view of his secretary Traudl (Alexandra Maria Lara) Junge. I will say only a few things as I assume, and hope, every one already knows the story of Hitler and at least a bit about his final days. This movie is based on two books, the first (Der Untergang) written by German historian and son of a German man who opposed the Nazi regime named Joachim Fest, and the second (Bis zur letzten Stunde) written by Melissa Müller and Traudl Junge about Traudl Junge's life, including her time with Hitler.

My Review:
This is, in my opinion, THE best WWII film about the German side. It depicts him in a way I think shows why so many loved him and were devoted to him. It is a true story and I believe that every one should understand what the Nazis were doing and what World War II was. It deeply saddens me how ignorant so so many are about history! If we do not know the treacherous past, how can we stop it from repeating? There is some nudity, and also quite a bit of violence. But, it was a violent awful war. I'm not saying you should be able to watch this and not be bothered by the violence, I'm saying you should watch this and yes be bothered and be aware and be sure that this doesn't happen again. This movie is wonderful acted, and beautifully made. And it is all spoken in German, but is subtitled in english.

to sum it up, it is the best.

The Other Boleyn Girl

I'm going to start by giving you some film stats, about the plot, then go into my review. *WARNING - THIS MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS*

Rating: PG-13 for, "mature thematic elements, sexual content and some violent images"
Staring: Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson.
Released: 29Th of February, 2008.
Genre: Biography, Drama, Romance, History.

Plot:
As most already know the story I will keep this brief. This is the story of the other Boleyn girl, the sister of Mary Boleyn who married King Henry VIII. This is about a sisters betrayal, as you probably already know. This is the true story of Anne and Mary Boleyn and King Henry VIII.

My Review:
It was alright, as most historical movies there are inconsistencies with what actually happened, but they are basically true. I was fond of the costumes, quality of cinematography, though I wasn't very happy with how the story was written for the film. I thought Natalie Portman and Eric Bana were cast well, though I thought that Scarlet Johansson wasn't the best choice for Mary Boleyn. As I said it was alright, but not great. Certainly not in top movie list.

To sum it up, it was okay.

Tombstone

I'm going to start by giving you some film stats, about the plot, then go into my review. *WARNING - THIS MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS*

Rating; R for, "violence."
Staring; Kurt Russell, and Val Kilmer.
Released; 25Th of December, 1993.
Genre; Action, Drama, History, Romance, Western.

Plot;
This is the story of how Wyatt (Russell) Earp, along with his brothers and friend Doc (Kilmer) Holliday take Tombstone from the grasps of it's tormentors "The Cowboys". Earp moved to Tombstone in hopes of finding peace and retirement from his law-man/ gun slinger days. Little did he know, just how big his reputation was, no matter where he went every one knew him. With no one else to take charge Wyatt, his brothers, and his friends fought the history making battle of Tombstone.

My Review;
I must say this is Val Kilmer at his best, he was a great choice to play Doc Holliday. Like most Historically based movies, you have to leave some room for inaccuracies, but there were a few too many for my taste - as a lover of History. But it did have good action, interesting plot, and it's funny moments. To me it seemed like it was 200 minuets, though in reality it was only 130. To me it wasn't the greatest, I was bored watching it. Though I did like the scenes with Holliday, I think he was truly given some of the best lines. To me it seemed like any other modern western with a famous name. I think they rely to much on "Tombstone" and "The OK-Corral". I think if the inaccuracies don't bother you to much, it's an alright movie. Not my favourite, but alright.

To sum it up, it's okay, if you like westerns - watch it.
